Hawa’s Story

Hawa was about 4 years old when her mother, Mrs Dumbuya, brought her to the Madina clinic because she had a fever. The nurses used the MUAC (mid upper arm circumference) tape and found that Hawa was malnourished.

She was admitted to the feeding centre with her mother, where she soon made an excellent recovery.

We have had the privilege seeing Hawa every year, and she has grown up into a wonderful young girl who shares a very special relationship with her mother. Hawa is severely deaf and mute, but HelpMadina are covering the cost of schooling for children with deafness, so Hawa is still able to attend school.

Whenever we are in Madina, Hawa and her mother come to greet us with a gift of thanks.

Admya’s Story

Admya was admitted to the feeding centre in 2009.

As you can see from the photograph she was very malnourished, although she found the energy to blow bubbles!

With the treatment given, she made a slow but steady recovery. She recovered her health and gained weight.

Admya is now a healthy young girl who is attending school in Madina.
